This small town in Ontario will have you feeling like you've stepped into a storybook. With old-world streets, cozy shops and river views, it's a gorgeous spot to visit year-round and will give you all those Hallmark vibes.

Perched along the shores of Ontario's Mississippi River, the historic town is a picture-perfect escape with limestone architecture and tumbling rapids.

Carleton Place is a charming destination located just over 30 minutes from Ottawa.

The town is known for its history and culture, and was named one of the province's cutest small towns by Ontario's Highlands.

There's lots to enjoy while visiting this spot. You can wander through the heritage downtown and check out the many local shops lining the streets.

There are several cozy cafes where you can warm up with a drink, such as Foundry Coffee Bar, The Good Food Company and Freska.

You can also grab a bite to eat at spots like Boulton House and Black Tartan Kitchen.

While in the area, you can explore some of Discover Lanark County's "seven wonders of Carleton Place," which include Hackberry Park, The Moore House and Carleton Junction.

There are also some self-guided walking tours to enjoy which are available to download online.

You'll want to bring some comfortable shoes, because there are lots of beautiful trails to explore while in the area. The Mississippi RiverWalk is a popular trail with gorgeous views and historic sites.
