A new forecast has revealed that southern Ontario's weather will be "messy" and wintry on Wednesday and Thursday.
That's because of snow in Toronto and the GTA and icy, freezing rain in other parts of the province.
According to The Weather Network, this winter weather is threatening dangerous freezing rain and a "significant" snowfall.
The winter storm is expected to move in at night on Wednesday, February 4 and continue through Thursday, February 5 with freezing rain, ice, and "heavy" snow.
There is a bit of uncertainty about exactly where the storm will track but it's more likely that freezing rain will hit areas north of Lake Erie.
Snowfall is expected to be the heaviest in places along Highway 401, from London all the way to Montreal.
The system will bring freezing rain on Wednesday night in the southwest and then northeast along Lake Erie by Thursday morning.
Places like Windsor, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Port Stanley, and Port Dover will be impacted.
According to The Weather Network, this will cause a difficult commute on Thursday morning and the risk of localized power outages if ice builds up.
This storm will bring snow to the GTA, Toronto and areas north of the region on Thursday morning. It will reach eastern Ontario by the afternoon.
Toronto and the GTA could get around five to 10 cm of snow on Thursday!
Snow is expected to be widespread across southern Ontario but with different accumulations. So, it could be just one to three cm or even more than 10 cm in some areas.
