Southern Ontario's weather this weekend is expected to be more like winter than spring.

A new forecast revealed that flurries, snow, and freezing temperatures are on the way.

The Weather Network said that "a balmy end to winter across southern Ontario will be met with a chilly start to spring" from Friday, March 21 to Monday, March 24.

Friday will feel a bit like early spring with lots of sunshine but temperatures will be much cooler than recent days.

Then, Saturday will start mild but a cold front will track across southern Ontario during the morning.

Saturday's forecast high will be reached early in the morning and temperatures will slowly fall throughout the day.

Temperatures will drop to near freezing during the afternoon with strong and gusty northwesterly winds.

Rain showers will change to flurries, especially for areas to the north and northwest of Toronto.

Saturday night will be cold across southern Ontario.

Overnight temperatures are forecast to be -4 C in Toronto, -5 C in Hamilton, -3 C in St. Catharines, -7 C in Barrie and -10 C in Ottawa.

There will be sunshine on Sunday morning, but clouds will spread from west to east across the region during the afternoon and temperatures will be rather chilly, The Weather Network said.

It's forecast to be just 1 C in Toronto, 2 C in Hamilton, 1 C in Barrie, 0 C in Kingston and 1 C in Ottawa on Sunday.

On Sunday night, snow will develop across most of southern Ontario, but a snow/rain mix is expected for parts of southwestern Ontario.

Then, wet snow will continue into Monday morning. Toronto, the GTA and areas to the south and west of the GTA should see a change to rain later on.

According to The Weather Network, the rest of next week will continue to feel like March.

You should expect near-seasonal or cooler-than-seasonal temperatures through the end of the month.
