A special weather statement for Calgary says to 'prepare for deteriorating travel conditions'
The Calgary weather forecast is looking wintry, and a special weather statement is now in effect for the city. Snow is set to fall throughout the day on Monday, October 21, and the forecast shows that it could accumulate up to 10 cm.
Environment Canada issued the special weather statement for the City of Calgary on Monday, and it said that "the first accumulating snow of the season will fall today."
The snow will start along the foothills on Monday morning, but push east across southern Alberta throughout the day. Some areas could see 5 cm to 10 cm of accumulated snow before it stops in the evening, although snowfall accumulations will vary.
Before the snowfall comes, rain is expected in some areas, which could make for slippery surfaces and roads as the temperatures drop.
The weather statement said to "prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions," and warned that "visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."
After the taste of wintry weather comes Monday though, the rest of the week is looking bright. There is sun in the seven-day forecast from Tuesday up until Friday, with highs of seven degrees. The weekend is looking toasty, with a mix of sun and clouds but a high of 18 degrees on Saturday.
