COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out across the United States, leaving many to wonder if proof of vaccination will be an essential part of returning to normal.

The Biden administration is reportedly in the process of developing a "vaccine passport," which would allow Americans to show proof of vaccination to any business asking them to do so, but it seems Texas Governor Greg Abbott is not a fan of the idea.

On Tuesday, Abbott signed an executive order prohibiting government-mandated vaccine passports in his state, saying "Don't tread on our personal freedoms."

"These vaccines are always voluntary and never forced," he said, "Government should not require any Texan to show proof of vaccination and reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives."

On the Politico Dispatch podcast, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, says that he doubts "that the federal government will be the main mover of a vaccine passport concept," but rather it will be individual businesses enforcing their own rules.
