The Canadian Border Has 'No Special Measures' Prepped For The US Election Aftermath

There's tension in the air today!

With the U.S. election pending, Canadians have expressed concerns about the outcome and what it might mean for everyone north of the border. Though, as of now, the Canadian border has no additional measures in place should things get out of control.

In an email sent to Narcity from the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) the agency explained that they will be monitoring for “potential impacts to border operations and services” as per usual.

“As part of our mandate we have multiple contingency plans ready to be implemented, as needed, to respond to heightened risk, threat levels, and related operational and service impacts,” they continued.

While they were unable to share with us what their contingency plans include, they did reiterate that these plans are always in place and today is just business as usual.

"We have multiple contingency plans ready to be implemented, as needed, to respond to heightened risk, threat levels, and related operational and service impacts," the agency said.

Following the presidential debate back in September, tons of Americans were Googling "move to Canada."

So, we might be able to expect a little buzz at the border following the election.

Election or not, there are still a ton of travel restrictions and advisories in place at the border that travellers need to be aware of.
