Ottawa’s 'The Drive-In Experience' Is Back This Month & They're Opening A Second Location

There'll be movies all summer long!

Sponsored Content Contributing Writer, Studio

Retro-style attractions are all the rage right now, and drive-in movie theatres are arguably the best. There's something exciting about packing a car full of blankets and watching a movie while cozied up. Plus, you can customize the experience to your liking (hello, pillows), enjoy the fresh air and not have to worry about finding a seat.

And with visits to enclosed movie theatres still a long way off, drive-ins offer a safe way to hang out with friends and family, watch a good movie and munch on your favourite cinema snacks.

After receiving glowing reviews in 2020 and being named "Best Summer Attraction" in Faces Magazine's 2021 Ottawa Awards, The Drive-In Experience is returning — now with a second location.

As of June 18, the Ottawa drive-in theatre will be reviving its west location at Wesley Clover Parks and also opening up a new east location at the RCGT Park parking lot (Ottawa Baseball Stadium).

For only $30 (plus taxes and fees) per vehicle, all you have to do is book your ticket, drive in, sit back and enjoy the show. It's fun for friends and family, or you could even go full Grease and plan a romantic date with your S/O. From scary flicks to daytime kids' movies, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Here's a sneak peek at next week's itinerary:

  • Ghostbusters - Friday, June 18th - Both Locations
  • Black Panther – Saturday, June 19 – West location (Wesley Clover Parks)
  • Inception – Saturday, June 19 – East location (RCGT Park parking lot)
  • IT Chapter 2 – Sunday, June 20 – West location (Wesley Clover Parks)
  • Jaws – Sunday, June 20 – East location (RCGT Park parking lot)

If you're looking to plan a safe outing that makes physical distancing easy, the drive-in is an ideal venue. The Drive-In Experience site is available to rent for corporate or private events — they've even hosted Deadmau5 and the queens of Canada's Drag Race last season.

There'll be movies from all genres from Friday to Sunday throughout the rest of summer, and if you feel like getting in a workout or two, The Drive-In Experience will also be hosting outdoor fitness classes.

So hop in your car, grab your roomies and roll in to catch a flick under the stars.
