Help is on the way Canada! That's the message coming from the federal government by offering to send the Red Cross to fight COVID-19 in hotspots across Canada.

The much-needed aid comes after a surge in cases in some regions in the country.

The Red Cross is a charity that gets money from the Canadian government and has a long history of stepping up in disasters.

Now they could be headed to hot spots in B.C., Alberta, Quebec, Toronto, Ottawa, Windsor-Essex, and Peel in Ontario.

$100,000,000  The federal government gave the Red Cross back in May

With this pandemic, the organization might provide support in those areas for testing centres and long-term care homes, help individuals who are isolating after being infected, help with feeding and taking care of the sick and offer psychological aid, an official told the CBC.

The relief efforts would possibly be covered by the $100 million in financial funding that was allocated to the organization by the federal government in May, according to the report.

This summer, Health Canada apparently worked with the Red Cross to train and prepare them in regional outbreaks in case the second wave of infections ever came back, which we now know is happening.

The organization already went to Quebec long-term care homes as well as delivered food to temporary foreign workers quarantining in southwestern Ontario.
