Ontario never ceases to amaze when it comes to enchanting waterfront destinations. The Thousand Islands in Ontario are the ultimate summer adventure if you want to transport yourself into a storybook.  With over 1,800 forested islands scattered throughout the water, you can dedicate days to paddling through the lush area.

If you're looking to take island hopping to the next level, you might want to grab your paddle for this location.

Running along the St. Lawrence River, clusters of islands can be found in this spot of the province.

If you're looking to get a better look, you can paddle your way to multiple different pieces of land throughout the area.

Thousand Islands National Park has multiple guided kayaking trips which will take you on the most magical adventure this summer.

There are different paddling routes that you can take with the Thousand Islands water trails, which has multiple maps with detailed full-day or half-day routes.

Some of the islands can be accessed with a ferry, or you can explore them with your own boat. Wolfe, Howe and Simcoe islands are reachable by ferry in Canada.

The islands are divided between the border, and you can see them on either side if you bring your passport.

While paddling through the water, you will be able to explore a stunning variety of sights.

Some of these tiny pieces of land even have houses and castles standing on them.

You can catch sight of Boldt Castle, which is built on the American side of the river and has been there since 1900.

It's important to note that many of the islands are privately owned.

However, there are plenty of public access areas complete with campgrounds and cottage rentals.

With hiking, campfire pits, swimming and picnic shelters, you may want to set aside extra time to enjoy everything this region has to offer.

Take yourself on a dreamy fantasy vacation right here in Ontario by spending a few days getting lost in the mystical scenery.
