A Canada Post Worker In Toronto Has Died Of COVID-19 After A Company Outbreak

Workers are still being asked to get tested.

A postal worker has died from COVID-19 following an outbreak at a Canada Post processing plant in Toronto.

On April 11, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers announced that they were sending their "heartfelt sympathies" to the worker's family and friends.

The news comes after an outbreak was declared at the South Central Letter Processing Plant, the location where the employee worked. 

A total of thirteen employees tested positive over a 14-day period. 

"Last night, we learned that one of our members in Toronto has died of COVID-19," Jan Simpson, national president, revealed in a statement. "I know I speak for all CUPW members when I share my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the member’s family, friends, and coworkers, and respect their privacy during this difficult time."
