Halloween was meant to be a quiet one this year with health authorities encouraging everyone to stay at home. This wasn't the case for some, however.

Police in London, Ontario had to break up a party with over 150 people near Western University over the weekend.

The party, which took place on Beaufort Street, was shut down at approximately 1:30 a.m. on October 31, police told Narcity.*

Police have yet to disclose any gathering-related fines that may have been issued.

In September, the University of Western Ontario dealt with an outbreak of COVID-19 after a cluster of students became infected and proceeded to visit several bars and restaurants.

Last week, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said that the province was just beginning to see the effects of Thanksgiving get-togethers.

It will take a full incubation period of 14 days to determine whether Halloween gatherings will have an effect on Ontario's case numbers.

On Sunday, the province reported 977 new COVID-19 infections.
