Do you want some fries with your vaccine pamphlet? Earlier this week, McDonald's Canada announced a new initiative to promote the COVID-19 vaccination efforts of Ontario's provincial government and the federal government.

Since July 5, the chain has been distributing leaflets to customers at drive-thrus and inside their restaurants that encourage Canadians to get vaccinated.

Minister of Health Christine Elliott called McDonald's initiative "a true Team Ontario effort" in the press release, thanking the chain for "stepping up to protect the health and wellbeing of Ontarians by helping us reach even more Ontarians and encouraging them to get vaccinated."

On Thursday, Ontario confirmed that 51% of adults are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and more than 78% of eligible adults have received their first dose.

Despite the province already reaching its vaccination targets to move into step three of the reopening plan, the Scientific Director of Ontario's Science Table, Dr. Peter Juni, said recently the province is "absolutely not" ready to reopen further because of the presence of the Delta variant.

In an interview with Narcity, Juni said that he hopes to see 85% of Ontarians fully vaccinated before September.

Health Canada has a robust website with all the latest information on COVID-19 vaccines and can answer any questions you may have.
