Ontario Just Set A New Record For COVID-19 Cases Reported Today

The province is announcing yet another spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday morning. 

According to Christine Elliott, Ontario's Minister of Health, 732 new cases of COVID-19 in Ontario were reported. 

This marks the highest number the province has seen since the beginning of the pandemic.

Toronto is reporting just under half of these numbers, with 323 confirmations in the city alone. 

Ottawa has 141 new positives, while Peel falls closely behind with 111. 

"58% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40. There are 428 more resolved cases," wrote Elliott in a tweet. 

According to government data, this marks the second time that provincial numbers have surpassed the 700 mark.
