Several Shoppers Drug Marts in Ontario are facing penalties for failing to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols.

The locations, listed in both the York Region and Hamilton, are now facing fines for their offences.

$880 Fine received by a York Region Shoppers Drug Mart

According to the City of Hamilton, the violations included everything from a lack of face coverings to failing to screen customers.

Three locations in the city received tickets including the Herkimer Street, Cannon Street East, and Mohawk Road East locations.

Two other stores in the York Region were also caught breaking the Reopening Ontario Act last month.

A Shopper's Drug Mart located at 4630 Hwy 7 E reportedly didn't sanitize their self-checkout after use, which resulted in an $880 fine.

Another York location, found at 9200 Dufferin Street, failed to ensure that customers were wearing face coverings, which also resulted in an $880 fine.

The move comes as Ontario continues a big box store blitz across the province.

In January, over 100 fines were given out to businesses that weren't following the rules.
