Multiple Toronto Museums & Galleries Will Be Offering Free Admission This Summer

Attention art lovers! If you're looking for something to do, why not stop at a local museum? Multiple Toronto museums and galleries have announced that they will be offering free admission this summer. 

Grab your friends and leave your wallets at home as you explore the 6ix. 

As multiple venues start to reopen their doors, some locations are welcoming visitors back with free admission.

The Gardiner Museum announced on Wednesday that you can explore their exhibits free of charge every weekend. 

The move comes as a way to encourage residents to start reconnecting with art. 

"We’re delighted to offer free weekend admission all summer long. We want everyone to be able to enjoy a safe and accessible space to reconnect and engage with art. Come reunite with favourite objects and discover new works," the company wrote in a tweet. 

The Aga Khan Museum, which opened its doors on June 27, is also following suit. 

Until September 7, the venue is doing pay what you can.*

If you're more into contemporary art, you can also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art, which offers free admission on the last Sunday of every month and on Fridays from 5-9 p.m. 

The AGO has also put measures in place to welcome back guests this summer. 

Last week, the gallery announced that they will be offering free passes to frontline workers including nurses, bus drivers and grocery clerks. 

Anyone who is under 25 can also explore the exhibits free of charge. 

If you aren't looking to leave your house just yet, a variety of museums and galleries across Ontario also have virtual tours. 

So you can explore the artwork without changing out of your pyjamas.
