Mayor Tory announced that Toronto's vaccination rollout could be changed to prioritize risk as well as age.

Speaking to CP24 on Monday morning, Tory said that the city is interested in more "targeted approaches" for people in high-risk work settings and neighbourhoods.

Tory explained that the initial decision to prioritize by age groups was agreed upon by "everybody" due to the high level of risk that COVID-19 posed to seniors.

"I think what you are seeing now [...] is the notion that we would change some of our orientation," Tory said, "to look now at more targeted approaches to get people in priority neighbourhoods, almost regardless of their age if they're working in a risky setting [...] or if they're just in neighbourhoods where the testing and the spread has been more prevalent."

Tory said that those communities would be targeted for vaccines, potentially utilizing mobile teams to bring doses into hard-hit neighbourhoods themselves.
