WestJet & Swoop Are Refunding Your Cancelled COVID-19 Travel Plans Now

Money is finally coming.
Contributor

Anyone who had their Europe or Disneyland trips cancelled because of COVID-19 in Canada is about to be in luck.

WestJet announced on Wednesday, October 21 that they would start giving real refunds back on flights cancelled by them and Swoop due to the pandemic.

They will get money back to people by their "original form of payment" starting on November 2.

[...] we are confident that we can now begin providing refunds proactively.

Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO

Starting next month, they will get in touch with people who can get a refund, starting with anyone who's flights were "cancelled at the onset of the pandemic," reads their press release.

They're asking people not to call in asking for their cash back so their phone lines don't get flooded.

But they promise to get to folks in "chronological order of cancellation."

So, if your travel plans in March were cancelled, you'll get your refunds before someone who's summer trip was cancelled.

They say that they're the first big airline in Canada to voluntarily give people back their money after the COVID-19 cancellations.
