BC's COVID-19 Case Counts Are Finally 'Levelling Off'

The province has the receipts to show they're bending the curve down.

Canada's westernmost province is starting to bend its curve back down and it's looking in a lot better shape than other parts of the country, but are COVID-19 cases going down in B.C.?

"We are flattening our curve," said Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer at her press conference on Monday, October 5.

As the province nears 10,000 total cases, the graphs don't lie and they show a significant dip, especially compared to other provinces.

In her conference, she reported that over the weekend there had been 358 new cases.

She also presented a ton of modelling information that shows the breakdown of cases in the province and how we're stacking up to others.

"We had been increasing and now we're levelling off," she said.

"Right now, Quebec is at a rapidly increasing rate, we're seeing Alberta being similar to us at a slightly higher rate, Unfortunately, Ontario, Manitoba, and Quebec are starting to see rates that are going up dramatically."

She said that public health measures like contract tracing are working and people are doing their part individually and as part of a community to bend the curve.
