Justin Trudeau Is Stepping Up To Help Find A Missing 25-Year-Old BC Hiker

A 25-year-old hiker went missing in B.C. earlier this month. The man, Jordan Naterer, was last seen on October 10, leaving his downtown Vancouver apartment. 

He was expected for Thanksgiving dinner and when he didn't show up, his loved ones became very concerned, says the police report. 

His car was then found at the Frosty Mountain Trailhead by the Lightening Lake Day Use area, about 200 kilometres out of Vancouver. 

Having been missing for several days, his family and communities are growing more and more concerned. In fact, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was even asked to step in and help during a Memorial University Town Hall on Wednesday, October 21.

The missing B.C. man is the son of Memorial University's Engineering Dean Greg Naterer. Therefore, this situation is near and dear to the Dean's colleagues. 

Trudeau empathized with the family, reflecting on his own brother who was killed in an avalanche at age 23.

"I can't personally hear that story and not think about my little brother, who was lost almost 25 years ago in the beautiful mountains in B.C.," said the prime minister. 

He promised at that moment that he will look into the situation, though he did say he doesn't have much power over searches. 

"I can certainly ask about it and try and see if there isn't something that I can nudge a little bit, because I know the heartbreak that the Naterer family and the entire community is going through right now," said Trudeau. 

Vancouver police are asking that "Anyone who sees Jordan Naterer is asked to call 9-1-1 and stay with him until police arrive."
