Until you've experienced the actual wild rainforests of Vancouver Island, you don't know the west coast. There's a path you need to discover hidden in the woods. It's one of the most magical boardwalk trails in B.C. and it's an adventure so easy that you don't have to be Bear Grylls to trek it.

Hidden inside Pacific Rim National Park, you'll find the Rainforest Trail. It's a three-hour drive here from Nanaimo, where you can get the ferry from Vancouver, and the park is super close to Tofino and Ucluelet.

But just because you're on a far-flung adventure doesn't mean you have to break out the life straw and the camping gear. It's actually a very light hike.

On either side of the Pacific Rim Highway, there are two routes of the same trail, simply known as Rainforest Trail A and B.

They are both short and sweet loops that will take you zig-zagging through the forest past trees so massive that you can't even begin to wrap your arms around them.

Boardwalks can be slippery when wet, so make sure you're wearing shoes with a decent grip and not flip flops.

If you ever wanted to feel like a woodland nymph or fairy in your own magical woods, then this is practically as close as you can get to fantasy while still having your feet on the ground.

This park is absolutely massive and famous for being the home of the West Coast Trail, an intense multi-day hike that most outdoorsy British Columbians have on their bucket list.

But if you're not down for all that, you can still get a taste of the real west coast by checking out this spot.
