A new ranking of cities worldwide with the best quality of life was just released, and just one Canadian city made the top 10. While European cities dominated the ranking, this Canadian spot was the North American representation among the top 10.

Mercer released their Quality of Living City Ranking 2024, evaluating cities through their Worldwide Quality of Living Survey, assessing the daily life of a city for the international workforce.

"The latest Quality of Living City Ranking highlights the cities that stand out for their exceptional living standards, robust infrastructure and vibrant cultural scenes. We consider many factors in creating our proprietary ranking model, including housing, recreation, socio-cultural environment, purchasing conventions, travel, traffic, air quality and access to education," the ranking said.

Vancouver came in at 7th place on the ranking, tied with Frankfurt, Germany — as they received the same score. Coming in ahead of Canada's West Coast city was Zurich, Vienna, Geneva, Copenhagen, Auckland and Amsterdam.

No other Canadian spots made the cut for the top 10, but on the list ranking of 50, some of the other major cities in the country appeared.

Toronto was next up after Vancouver, coming in at 13th place. Ottawa and Montreal followed, both tied at 20th, and Calgary was the last of the Canadian cities in 25th.
