BC Officially Extended Their State Of Emergency Again & It's The Longest Ever

The State of Emergency started on March 18.
Contributor

On Tuesday, July 7, B.C.'s State of Emergency was extended again for another two weeks until July 21, 2020.

This is the longest period of its kind in the province's history and it lets Mike Farnworth, the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, help the province respond to the pandemic.

We're starting to see some restrictions lifting, but there are measures we need to keep in place to continue battling COVID-19,

Premier John Horgan

According to Minister Farnsworth, the "extension of the state of emergency will allow us to keep orders in place to ensure public safety until measures are in place to transition out of the state of emergency."

Dr. Bonnie Henry reminded British Columbians that we are not out of the woods yet and "the more people you see and the more places you go, the higher the likelihood is that you'll come into contact with someone with COVID-19."

As of July 7, there are 162 active COVID-19 cases in B.C. and there's no end in sight to the State of Emergency.
