BC's New COVID-19 Spike Is Mostly People In Their Twenties & Thirties

The latest data from the province shows that the number of millennials with COVID-19 in B.C. is growing.

In her daily update from Monday, July 20, B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced a "concerning" spike in new cases as 102 people tested positive in just three days.

Most of the cases that have arisen over the last weekend and the last few days have been in people in their twenties and thirties.

Henry pointed out that the increase was partly the result of gatherings and parties including events on houseboats and private homes.

The latest trend in younger people hasn't just been seen in B.C. either — Alberta reported a similar theme as they too are experiencing a new spike in cases.

Currently, the median age for COVID-19 cases is 50 — however, Henry expects that number to change "in the coming weeks" as the province blasts past 3,300 total cases.
