"Go home, we love you, you're very special."

Violence and chaos were seen in Washington after a pro-Trump mob overtook the United States Capitol on Wednesday, January 6.

Hours later, Donald Trump issued a video statement telling his supporters to "go home."

Prior to the video, Joe Biden had condemned the actions of Trump's supporters and called upon the President to "make it stop."

Trump began the statement by saying that the election was stolen from him when Joe Biden was elected.

Twitter has added a disclaimer to Trump's video, saying that "This claim of election fraud is disputed" and has prevented comments and retweets of the message.

"I know your pain, I know you are hurting, we had an election that was stolen from us," he said, adding that it was a landslide election and "everyone knows it.

He told his followers that they can't play into this and that "we have to have peace."

He said he knows how they feel, telling them he loves them and they're very special.

"Go home, and go home in peace," he concluded.

Earlier, hundreds of violent Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. There have been several reports of weapons, a woman has reportedly been shot, and Canada's Prime Minister has even expressed his concern about the events.
