Your next Air Canada flight just got a little bit fancier. Air Canada has announced a "major upgrade" to its in-flight menu, with over 100 new recipes for travellers to enjoy.

The airline is introducing a new menu of "bigger, bolder flavours," across its economy and "first class" seats, as well as "craveable new snacks and beverages." With a range of new menu items that promise to raise the bar for economy dining, here's what to expect onboard your next flight.

Air Canada has partnered with award-winning Canadian chefs David Hawksworth, Vikram Vij, and Jérôme Ferrer, with its new menu featuring local ingredients complemented by wine selections from award-winning Air Canada sommelier Véronique Rivest.

The airline has new options where you're flying internationally, within North America or to the Caribbean.

In economy, travellers can expect new global flavours like red Thai chicken and rice, and chicken cacciatore with roast potatoes and bell peppers.

This adds to a classic pesto penne by Chef Jérôme Ferrer available on flights from Canada, as well as a new pancake breakfast with pure Canadian maple syrup on longer flights that serve a hot breakfast.

On flights from Europe, travellers will enjoy new Monty's Bakehouse savoury pastries, including coconut chicken and potato sour cream and chive. These refreshed recipes also add to regional appetizers like soba noodles, chaat, hummus and vegetables, and more, recently introduced on all international routes, according to the airline.

For flights of two hours or more within North America or to the Caribbean, travellers can enjoy an upgraded Air Canada Bistro menu that will be rolling out this spring.

The new Bistro menu will include the "most extensive selection of fresh buy-on-board options from any North American airline," with options including a peppercorn roast beef sandwich, cheeseburger sliders, and vegan options like Mediterranean hummus wraps.

Travellers will also be able to enjoy a stellar selection of alcoholic beverages, including new premium crafted and Canadian-owned Tequila Tromba and Campari.

If you're feeling bougie, travellers in Air Canada's Signature Class (its highest fare class) will also be treated to an array of new dining options, both in the air and at Air Canada's Signature Suite lounge at Toronto Pearson Airport.

In addition to the new meals, Air Canada is also adding new "nibbles" to its flights, including sweet and salty treats, protein-packed options and Canadian favourites.

Travellers can enjoy options like buttery herb and garlic TWIGZ pretzels, which are now complimentary in all cabins on North America flights shorter than two hours and economy cabins on international flights.

Other new snacks include a Sweet Sixteen candy mix from Quebec, Chomps grass-fed beef jerky, and Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares, joining Air Canada's existing snack menu, which features bites from Kit Kat, Miss Vickie's, and MadeGood.

Travellers can also sip new luxury tea blends from Dilmah, including Ceylon Earl Grey, Chamomile, Peppermint, Green, Lemon & Ginger and Orange Pekoe.

In addition, specialty teas are available on select routes, including Jasmine (China), Chai (India), Brown Rice Green Tea (Korea), and Japanese Green Tea (Japan).

How do I check meals on a flight?

To see what's offered on your next Air Canada flight, you can input your flight number or route, date of departure and class of service on Air Canada's website to see what meals will be served on board.

Bon appétit!
