2 Alberta Cops Just Got Charged With Manslaughter After Shooting A 31-Year-Old

Two officers who were arrested for the shooting of a 31-year-old man in Alberta just got charged with manslaughter.

The events occurred on July 3, 2018, but the Alberta RCMP officers weren't arrested until nearly two years later on June 5, 2020. They were initially charged with "criminal negligence causing death," but the charges have since been upgraded.

The officers have been identified in a press release as Corporal Randy Stenger and Constable Jessica Brown. 

The press release describing the incident mentioned that a 31-year-old man was in a residence in Whitecourt when "unidentified perpetrators" came in and attacked the occupants. 

The victim, who was considered a witness, left the scene in a car. He was later located by an off-duty cop. A confrontation broke out shortly and the man was found deceased in his car, having "sustained several gunshot wounds."
