President Joe Biden is looking to make the United States government just a little more environmentally friendly by saying goodbye to traditional cars and trucks.

The president plans to replace the government's enormous fleet of gas and diesel-powered vehicles with new electric ones assembled in the U.S.

NBC reports the process of replacing the government's fleet of vehicles could prove both timely and expensive, as there are only a few electric vehicle manufacturers in the country.

Telsa, Nissan and General Motors are currently selling and producing electric vehicles in the United States.

The president did not announce which company will be manufacturing the vehicles nor which type of electric vehicles they would be, but he did say they will be "net-zero emission."

He also says the switch would contribute to his administration's plan of creating 1 million jobs in the United States auto industry.

There is no timeline for the major vehicle switch as of right now.

Biden made the announcement while discussing his "Buy American" executive order, which prioritizes federal spending on domestically manufactured goods.
