Summers are all about escaping the city, and this small town in Alberta gives all the coastal getaway vibes you could ask for. It's just outside of Calgary, making for an easy retreat with sandy beaches and wide open water.

While there's the popular hot spots like Banff and the other mountain towns nearby the city, this one offers beachside fun.

The little town was just named among the best summer getaways from Calgary, on a Narcity Facebook poll. With quaint streets, a beach town feel, and even a lighthouse — it's easy to see why people love it.

Sylvan Lake is a dreamy summer spot, and a trip here means soaking up the sun on the beach, wandering around town and getting out on the water.

There's tons of local businesses to check out, and nothing says summer like getting a scoop from The Big Moo and strolling down the waterfront with it.

There's a path along the lake that makes for the perfect evening walk as the sun goes down.

If you want to get a little activity in you can rent a bike, boat, kayak, or paddle board from town.

Everywhere you turn you get scenic views here, and coastal vibes.

So, if you're up for a summer retreat jump in the car and drive to this little town. In just an hour and 40 minutes you'll be relaxing on the soft sand.
