When it comes to arguing over the best Canadian cities, everyone's got an opinion. Now, though, a new ranking has revealed the top spots to live in the country if you're after a high quality of life — and one Alberta city has officially taken the crown.

Global Citizen Solutions released its list of the 15 best places to live in Canada, based on factors like employment opportunities, cost of living, retirement perks, and family life. And in first place? Calgary, Alberta.

The city scored major points for its "moderate" cost of living, average monthly expenses for singles, excellent healthcare, low crime rates, and low taxes — all adding up to what the report calls an "overall high liveability."

Of course, the lifestyle perks don't hurt either. Calgary is just a short drive from the Rocky Mountains, meaning world-class skiing, hiking, and breathtaking views are basically in your backyard. Add in the city's bustling food scene and what the report describes as a "warm, friendly atmosphere that makes it easy for expats to feel welcome," and it's not hard to see why Calgary came out on top.

Another Alberta city also snagged a high spot on the list. Edmonton landed in third place thanks to its sunny weather, affordable housing prices, and strong economy — making it another solid choice if you're thinking about a move.

Whether you're looking outdoor adventure, or just a better balance between affordability and lifestyle, Alberta might just be calling your name.
