There's A Super Chic Calgary Bar Hidden Inside A Historical Bank From The 1930s

You need to see inside. 👀

If you're looking for a swanky stop for your next date night, check out The Bank & Baron pub. It's tucked into one of Alberta's most historical buildings in downtown Calgary.

As soon as you step off Stephen Avenue and into this character building, your eyes go straight up to the vaulted ceiling and 1930 glass skylight.

But don't worry, just because the place is fancy, doesn't mean you have to be. The menu is a perfect mix of pub food and exquisite cocktails.

125 8 Ave. S.W. Bank & Baron address

Back In the 1930s, this historic building was home to the Bank of Nova Scotia and you'll notice the lettering still on the building. So obviously that's where the first half of the name comes from.

The second part honours Baron Mount Stephen, who came up with the Canadian Pacific Railway. Fun fact, Stephen Avenue was also named after the philanthropist.

According to public records, the bank closed in 1976 and designated a Provincial Historic Resource five years later.

It was transformed into the Bank & Baron in 2014.
