Calgary Just Surpassed Edmonton In COVID-19 Cases

Calgary has just recorded a massive spike in COVID-19 cases. 

As of Monday, August 31, there are 1,370 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta. A majority of the new cases have been recorded in Calgary, taking its active case count above that of Edmonton.

Calgary's Active COVID-19 cases 

Meanwhile, Edmonton currently has 551 COVID-19 cases, according to the Government of Alberta

As of August 24, Edmonton had over double the number of active cases in Calgary. Edmonton had 676 cases and Calgary had 294. 

Calgary's numbers have significantly shifted in just one week. On Monday, the province announced that 426 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed between Friday, August 28, and Sunday, August 30.
