These companies are in the banking, retail, food and drink, education, health care, IT, government services, telecommunications, utilities and construction industries — just to name a few.

Forbes recently released its Canada's Best Employers ranking for 2024 to help job seekers find the best places to work across the country.

This annual ranking that Forbes puts out in partnership with market research firm Statista is based on a survey of more than 40,000 people working for companies and institutions in Canada that employ at least 500 workers.

Survey respondents were asked to rate their employer based on criteria including salary, gender pay equity, work flexibility, promotion opportunities and on-the-job training.

Also, employees were asked if they would recommend their employer to others and how they would rate other employers in their industries.

Forbes shared that this list includes 300 companies and organizations in Canada.

These are the best employers in Canada that came out on top in the new 2024 ranking:

  1. The Hershey Company — headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario
  2. Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario — headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario
  3. Brock University — headquarters in St. Catharines, Ontario
  4. Elections Canada — headquarters in Gatineau, Quebec
  5. Concordia University — headquarters in Montreal, Quebec
  6. Government of Prince Edward Island — headquarters in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
  7. Hydro-Québec — headquarters in Montreal, Quebec
  8. Workplace Safety and Insurance Board — headquarters in Toronto, Ontario

  10. Fisheries and Oceans Canada — headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario

Forbes also included the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, Bank of Canada, WM, Ontario Power Generation, BC Hydro, Manitoba Public Insurance, City of Markham, Marriot Hotels, Intuit, SaskPower, CIBC and Boeing in this ranking.

Quite a few government of Canada agencies and departments were named as the best employers in the country for 2024 including Health Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Transport Canada, VIA Rail and Service Canada.

Well-known brands and retailers in Canada — like Apple, Nike, Sephora, Costco, Google, Microsoft, Adidas and Lululemon — ranked as top companies too.

Canada's Best Employers ranking also included airlines — Air Canada, WestJet and Porter Airlines — and universities and colleges — Carleton University, Mount Royal University, Okanagan College, Université de Sherbrooke and Dalhousie University — along with companies in other industries.
