The Canada Workers Benefit is increasing — Here's how much you can get for 2025
Plus, the eligibility threshold is expanding!

A bunch of government payments are getting an increase for 2025, including the Canada Workers Benefit.
Some good news for Canadian workers! The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is getting an increase for 2025, bringing extra cash to lower-income workers who rely on this government benefit to make life a little more affordable.
If you're juggling rising costs and are eligible for the government payment, we have the scoop on what's changing and when you'll see those boosts in your bank account.
Each year, the Canada Revenue Agency adjusts the federal income tax brackets and certain benefit amounts to match inflation, using the consumer price index as a guide. For 2025, the indexation increase is officially set at 2.7%.
While it's not as big as we've seen over the last two years due to higher inflation rates in 2022 and 2023, it still means more money for those who qualify for the CWB. So, what exactly does this increase look like for you?
Well, for single individuals without kids, the maximum CWB is climbing to $1,633 — up from $1,590 this year. Families can expect a boost too, with the maximum benefit increasing to $2,813, compared to $2,739 in 2024.
That's an extra $43 for singles and $74 for families, making a noticeable difference over time.
If you're eligible for the disability supplement, you'll see that go up at the same rate too. The maximum supplement will rise to $843 in 2025, up from $821 this year.
Meanwhile, the income thresholds for phasing out these benefits are also increasing. For single individuals, the CWB starts to phase out at an adjusted net income of $26,855 (up from $26,149). For families, the phase-out begins at $30,639, compared to $29,833 in 2024. This ensures your eligibility doesn't change if you get a cost-of-living raise this year.
The CWB is a refundable tax credit designed to support Canadians who are working and earning below certain income thresholds. It includes a basic amount and a disability supplement, with eligibility and payment amounts determined based on your income and family situation.
If you qualify, you may also receive advance payments for up to 50% of the benefit, split into three instalments throughout the year, referred to as the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB).
Payments will be increasing in July 2025, in line with the beginning of the new benefit year.
Make sure to file your tax return on time to continue receiving your payments, and keep an eye out for that extra cash when it starts rolling out in the summer!
