When it comes to the travel restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border, one Canadian premier has made his opinion loud and clear.

Speaking on October 27, per the Montreal Gazette, Quebec Premier François Legault expressed his desire to keep the closure in place until at least the end of 2020.

“He [Trudeau] waited too much last March to close the borders,” said the Quebec premier on Tuesday.

The first thing that is important is that Mr. Trudeau does not open the borders.

Legault went on to say that this time, no chances should be taken, meaning travel restrictions should remain in place until “at least” the end of this year.

“It’s very important Mr. Trudeau keeps the borders closed for a long time,” he added.

Per the latest agreement between Trudeau and Trump, the border will remain shut to non-essential travel until at least November 21.

Ever since it was closed to non-essential travellers back in March, the two countries’ leaders have sent mixed messages about reopening.

While it seems U.S. President Donald Trump seems keen to restart travel in the near future, Canada’s PM says he'll continue to consider the COVID-19 situation in the States.
