Tulip-lined trails, scenic canals, and charming flower markets might sound like something out of the Netherlands — but you'll find them all (and more) in this enchanting Ontario destination.

With endless blooms and pastel gardens, it's a magical spot for a springtime getaway.

The Canadian Tulip Festival is returning to Ottawa from May 9 to 19, bringing a taste of the Netherlands to the capital. The free, 11-day event is the "world's largest tulip festival" and boasts over 300,000 tulips in 26 gardens.

This year's Festival commemorates 80 years of liberation and "honours Canada's heroic role in freeing the Netherlands during the Second World War—and the enduring bond that bloomed from it," according to a press release.

The Official Opening Ceremony will take place on May 10, on the Great Lawn at Commissioners Park. The event will serve as a tribute to veterans and HRH Princess Margriet of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who was born in Ottawa during the war.

Throughout the Festival, you can enjoy attractions like movies in the park, a Dutch pavilion, a flower market, and a new whimsical boardwalk adventure along Dow's Lake.

You can wander through dreamy gardens and along tulip-lined trails while soaking up views of the Canal for a true Dutch experience.

The Festival will end with a dazzling Vintage Victory Party that will transport you back to 1945. The show will feature a big band orchestra, swing dancers, re-enactors, military vehicles and Canada's first hybrid Drone and Fireworks Show.

With endless blooms and attractions, this tulip festival is a beautiful way to enjoy the spring season.
