This twinkly hidden gem 1 hour from Toronto is like a tiny European Christmas village

It has cobblestone streets and sparkling alleys.

Fancy a trip to Europe this Christmas? You don't need to jet off across the globe in order to experience some festive charm abroad. This destination has all the European vibes and it's just a road trip away from Toronto.

With cobblestone streets and quaint alleyways, you'll feel as if you're wandering through the twinkly streets of London.

Village Square is a cultural destination located in Burlington, about an hour from Toronto.

Built during the 1970s, the area was designed to "create the atmosphere of a turn-of-the-century town square" and "unites the looks of historic architecture with modern lifestyle interests and establishments," according to the website.

You'll be whisked away to a little European village as you wander along the quaint streets, visit the red telephone booth and soak up the enchanting architecture.

The area is even more magical during the Christmas season, when twinkling lights and decor adorn the shops and alleyways.

You can explore a range of local boutiques, including spas and specialty shops.

There are also a number of cafes and restaurants where you can grab a coffee, treat or bite to eat. For an extra sprinkle of festive magic, head to Lola Choco Bar for some of the seasonal beverages such as the s'mores latte, peppermint mocha and Nutella drinking chocolate.

You can find more European vibes at The Dickens, which is "one of the city's most iconic and legendary pubs," according to the website.

While you're in the area, you can take a stroll down to the waterfront and enjoy the Burlington Festival of Lights — a free event with glowing light displays.

With European vibes and quaint shops, this Village Square near Toronto is a magical spot to visit during the holidays.
