A new documentary presented by the SHEBA® brand is giving Canadians the opportunity to support coral reef restoration by simply "streaming it forward" before June 29, 2025.

Reef Builders spotlights the inspiring stories of the people behind SHEBA Hope Grows™ — part of one of the world's largest coral reef restoration programs led by Mars Sustainable Solutions (MSS) — and the vital role of ocean communities in a move to help restore the planet's coral reefs.

Directed by Stephen Shearman, with actor and environmental advocate Auli’i Cravalho acting as associate producer, Reef Builders captures the work of ocean communities driving real change in places like Kenya, Indonesia, Australia, Hawai'i and beyond.

A story of how hope is growing globally, the documentary highlights the contributions of the more than 200 reef builders working to restore this vital marine ecosystem.

This is where you come in!

For every hour Reef Builders is streamed between April 14 and June 29, 2025, Amazon will contribute $1 CAD (up to $30,000 CAD) to Corales de Paz — a SHEBA partner and non-profit working to restore coral reefs in Colombia. Watch the trailer below.

To watch the full documentary, go to Amazon Prime Video.

As part of the brand’s coral restoration work, the SHEBA Brand in Canada is partnering with Save The Beach Maldives, an organization committed to conserving and preserving the beaches and coral reefs of the Maldives.

While continuing to proudly support Save the Beach Maldives with the local restoration efforts underway, the SHEBA brand is working to build and strengthen relationships with the ocean life network and coastal communities, like the ones featured in Reef Builders, to continue to inspire hope.

How SHEBA® is turning the tide for coral reefs

You may wonder why SHEBA, the premium cat food brand, has invested so much into restoring coral reefs. SHEBA's mission is deeply connected to the ocean. Today, the world’s coral reefs, often called the "rainforests of the sea," are in critical danger.

Scientists estimate that 90% of the world’s tropical reefs will be gone by 2043 if the world does nothing (ICRI), potentially threatening 25% of all the world’s marine life (EPA) and impacting the estimated one billion people worldwide that benefit either directly or indirectly from the ecosystem services coral reefs provide (NOAA).

Through coral reef restoration, SHEBA is helping to protect the future of these vital coral reef ecosystems, which are essential for broader ocean health, and thriving fish populations.

The SHEBA brand is taking action, and you can too. Pop some popcorn, sit back, enjoy Reef Builders, and know that every viewing hour helps restore life beneath the waves.
