Costco and IKEA have cheap fast food, according to Canadians.

So, we compared prices at each retailer's food court to find out where you can get the cheapest items.

Recently, Narcity asked Canadians to reveal the cheapest places to get fast food in this country.

You might've expected classic fast food chains like McDonald's to top the list, but Costco and IKEA were in first and second place.

So, we looked at the menu for each food court and compared the prices of items that both Costco Canada and IKEA Canada stores have.

That includes hot dogs, fries, drinks and more.

Here's a price breakdown of six menu items at Costco and IKEA food courts so you can find which store has the cheapest fast food.

Hot dog

At Costco, you can get an all-beef hot dog or Polish sausage for $1.50, but that price also includes a pop.

It costs $1 for a hot dog at IKEA. If you also want a drink with your hot dog from the IKEA food court, you have to pay an additional cost.

Fries

Costco has French fries for $3.49 at the food court.

IKEA has French fries for just $2 at food court locations in Canada.

Poutine

It costs $6.99 for poutine at Costco food courts in Canada.

At the IKEA food court, it costs $7.99 for a large poutine.

Drinks

Costco has 20-ounce fountain drinks for just $0.99, and you can get Coca-Cola, Fanta, Fuze or Sprite.

IKEA has Nordic fruit water, which comes in cola, pear, raspberry, lemon lime, and lingonberry flavours, for $1.50.

Ice cream cone

It costs $2.89 for an ice cream in a regular cone at the Costco food court at locations in Canada.

At IKEA, you can get vanilla or strawberry-flavoured frozen yogurt in a regular cone for $2.

You can get vanilla or strawberry-flavoured frozen yogurt in a sugar cone at IKEA stores in Canada, but it'll cost you more.

The price of that is $2.50.

Ice cream sundae

Costco has an ice cream sundae for $3.49, and you can get vanilla ice cream with caramel, chocolate or cherry-flavoured topping.

IKEA has a vanilla-flavoured frozen yogurt sundae with lingonberry topping for $2.50.

WHERE ARE MENU ITEMS CHEAPER?

Costco and IKEA have pretty cheap prices for their food court, but let's break it down by which menu items are cheapest at each retailer.

Fries, ice cream cones and ice cream sundaes are cheaper at IKEA.

Hot dogs, drinks and poutine are cheaper at Costco.

Even though the price of the hot dog is more expensive at Costco than it is at IKEA, you also get a drink at the Costco food court.

Since you get a combo at Costco for only $0.50 more than it costs for just a hot dog at IKEA, that menu item goes to Costco.

If you ordered all six of these menu items at Costco, it would cost you $19.35.

If you ordered all of these items at the IKEA food court, including an additional drink with the hot dog to make it a combo like Costco, it would cost you $18.49.

So, even though both retailers have three menu items each that are the cheapest, the edge actually goes to IKEA when it comes to the total price!

These prices are confirmed at the time of publishing, but they can change at any time. Taxes and fees may not be included.
