The ‘Dirty John’ Season 2 Trailer Is Here & It’s A Completely Different Storyline

You won’t believe what’s in store! Back in 2019, Netflix released a haunting true crime series about a woman who found herself in an intoxicating relationship with an incredibly dangerous man. The show became a sensation on the streamer, and now the creators are back with Dirty John season two.
In season one, we were introduced to Debra Newall, a Newport Beach interior designer who found herself falling for the charming John Meehan after meeting him on a dating app.
Despite the many red flags and warnings from her loved ones, Debra continued to pursue John at the expense of some of her closest relationships.
As the series went on, more and more of John’s dark secrets were brought to light, and a bloody ending left audiences in total shock.
Just weeks after Dirty John premiered on Netflix, the show was renewed for a second season. Since the first edition told the entirety of Debra and John’s story, the latest episodes will shed light on a different dark relationship.
The recently released trailer reveals that season two will tell the haunting story of Betty Broderick and her late ex-husband, Daniel Broderick III.
According to What’s on Netflix, the upcoming episodes will span from the 1960s to the 80s, and will give an insiders look at the breakdown of the couple’s marriage that’s been deemed “one of America’s messiest divorces”.
If you’re not familiar with the story of the Broderick’s, USA Today reports that the couple struggled financially in their early years, as Daniel attended medical and law school. They eventually made it out on top, but it wasn’t long before their marriage crumbled.
As Daniel’s career took off, his attention began to turn from his wife to his young assistant, Linda, according to USA Today.
Things continue to fall apart for Betty, leading her to take drastic measures against her unfaithful husband and his new wife just days shy of her 42 birthday.
Dirty John season two stars Amanda Peet and Christian Slater as the infamous couple. USA Today reports that Peet referred to her character as a “middle-age, female (version) of the Joker."
The actress also said that she believes her character “felt cornered in a lot of ways”, but “she murdered the father of her children, so I will never be able to get beyond that.”
Dirty John season two is set to premiere on the USA Network on Tuesday, June 2.
Deadline confirmed late last year that Netflix is a co-producer for the series, meaning that it will hopefully be available on the streaming service outside of the U.S. later this year, according to What’s on Netflix.
