On Wednesday, November 4, the Edmonton IKEA closed down for cleaning after they learned an employee had tested positive for COVID-19.

A news release from the retailer says that the store closed for sanitization purposes and any other workers who had been in contact with the person have been notified. Staff is self-quarantining as necessary.

Just a day after, IKEA decided it was safe to reopen on Thursday, November 5 at 10 a.m.

According to CTV News, the individual last worked on Saturday, October 31.

The news release details how they determined it was safe to re-open.

"We have completed an enhanced cleaning and sanitization of the building and we can now confirm that IKEA Edmonton is safe to reopen," said the release.

The facility was cleaned by a third-party and the company has deemed the location ready to dive back into action.

As of now curbside pickup is also up and running once more.
