A tragic event unfolded outside an Edmonton Starbucks overnight. In the early hours of Friday, July 3, a car crashed into a Starbucks location in Edmonton, leaving three passengers dead. The driver involved in the Edmonton Starbucks crash is at large as of Friday morning.

Scott Pattinson of the Edmonton Police Service explained what happened in an email sent to Narcity.

At around 2:20 a.m., patrol officers of the Southwest Division responded to a collision that occurred near Calgary Trail and 55 Avenue.

The single-vehicle collision turned out to be fatal, as the cops discovered "three deceased occupants inside an Audi sedan."

Pattinson goes on to say that the Audi had crashed into a business on Calgary Trail.

Global News reported the business to be a Starbucks.

"The male driver of the vehicle remains outstanding at this time," said the media representative.

The statement goes on to say that EPS Major Collision agents are now at the scene, investigating the crash. They've closed down Calgary Trail north of 55 Avenue.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area until further notice as the authorities continue their investigation.

The police are now on the lookout for the driver, so anyone with information about his whereabouts or about the collision is asked to come forward.

A witness named Sunny Kalsi told Global that he was at a gas station when he heard the noise of the crash. He also reported seeing the vehicle speeding.

He then approached the vehicle and interacted with the driver, who was reportedly awake following the crash.

Kalsi said he asked the driver if he was okay and that the driver said yes.

The driver then came out of the vehicle. Kalsi asked the driver to rest on the ground.

The driver did just that but soon after, he got up again and began walking towards the Starbucks.

Kalsi said that the man went to the back of the Starbucks and seemingly disappeared after that. The witness has no further information about where the drive could have gone.
