You don't need to leave the province to enjoy some Italian summer vibes. This dreamy Ontario destination will have you feeling like you're in a whole different country as you float around turquoise waters and gaze over limestone cliffs.

Located just over an hour from Toronto, this majestic swimming hole is a magical spot for a last-minute summer getaway.

The Elora Quarry is a breathtaking natural wonder known for its giant, 40-foot limestone cliffs and sparkling waters. The heart-shaped swimming hole is a scenic place to take a dip during the warmer months and boasts some breathtaking scenery.

The quarry was named among "the best secret beaches in Canada" by Chatelaine in 2019, and, according to the article, its turquoise waters and rock formations will make you "swear it's Lake Como, Italy."

The quarry is complete with a soft-sand beach where you can soak up some sun, as well as some shaded areas for picnics.

Bring your hiking shoes along, because the quarry is home to a one-kilometre loop trail that winds through serene cedar forests with views of the Grand River.

The swimming hole is a popular summer destination, so you'll need to make a reservation in advance. There are two four-hour time slots offered each day: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Once you've had your swimming fill, you can head over to the enchanting village of Elora, renowned for its old-world charm and European vibes.

The town has picturesque streets lined with limestone shops, where you can find all sorts of unique treasures.

There are several cozy cafes dotted throughout the town, as well as restaurants and ice cream parlours.

Known as "Ontario's prettiest village," Elora is an enchanting spot to spend a weekend, and is located just minutes from the quarry.

If you're looking for a fun outing to enjoy before summer ends, you might want to plan a trip to this stunning Ontario quarry with Italian vibes.
