Planning on partying on Halloween? Not on Airbnb's watch.

The San Francisco-based company isn't taking any chances this year and has decided not to book one-night rentals on the spookiest day of the year in a bid to curb partygoers.

Airbnb will be prohibiting one-night reservations over the Halloween weekend in Canada and the U.S. for October 30 and October 31.

"We are committed to doing our part in particular to try and stop large gatherings," Andrea Ernesaks, Senior Consultant at Airbnb told Narcity.

The announcement comes almost a year after a deadly shooting at an Airbnb in Orinda, California that took the lives of five people at an unauthorized Halloween party.

This also comes on the heels of Airbnb's protocols to prevent gatherings following last week’s party house crackdown in Ontario that went against its policies during the pandemic.

The move addresses concerns amid a second wave of the pandemic tied in with the company's mandate to restrict large gatherings in order to protect guests and hosts.
