If we're lucky enough, we may be able to catch some northern lights in Ontario tonight.

According to the Space Weather Prediction Centre, northern United States and southern Canada could experience geomagnetic storms from December 9 to 11, and these storms could produce northern lights.

The Weather Network says that clear skies are essential for aurora borealis viewing, which may not happen in Ontario.

The best chances of sustained visibility of the northern lights will be in pockets of western Canada.

If you hope to catch glimpses of the spectacle, you're going to want to head somewhere with as little light pollution as possible. This interactive map can help you find the best spots.

Peak times to view the lights are from just past midnight to dawn, according to the Canadian Space Agency.

Happy night sky viewing, Ontario!
