If you took the 401 this morning, you may have noticed more delays than usual. A Toronto dump truck rally took to the streets in protest this morning.

According to reports by 680 News, there are approximately 200 trucks making their way to Queens Park.

The convoy started at around 8:00 am this morning at Dixie and Derry Rd. in Mississauga.

The trucks made their way along Highway 410, eastbound on the 401, and southbound on Highway 427.

As of 9:15 a.m., the convoy is making its way onto the Gardiner Expressway towards Queens Park, where they will circle the property until noon.

The drivers are calling attention to the new Safe, Productive, Infrastructure-Friendly legislation.

The legislation, which is set to go into effect on the first day of 2021, will force some truck drivers to retrofit older vehicles on their own dollar.*
