While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family. Buckingham Palace

The family agreed to a 12-month review when their move away from royal duties was announced last year, but the decision has now been made final.

This also means giving up their responsibilities and royal patronages.

"Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service," the statement read.

That includes The Royal Marines, The Queen's Commonwealth Trust, The Rugby Football League, and The Royal National Theatre, among others.

The statement also said that the family is saddened by the move but the couple remains "much loved."

This announcement comes shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they were expecting their second child.
