Texas has gained another billionaire now that Elon Musk has made the move official, and his bank account tops all the rest by quite a bit of money.

The SpaceX founder has already made a massive presence in Texas but he is now saying farewell to his personal home in California for a new spot in the Lone Star State, leaving behind high costs of living and a massive personal income tax.

His other company, Tesla, has also begun operations in Texas with its Cybertruck Gigafactory set up and ready to go by next spring in Austin.

$144.7 billion

Elon Musk December 2020 net worth according to Forbes

Elon Musk hit this net worth after Tesla's stock continued to soar throughout the year, which added nearly $120 billion to his net worth.

Musk has now passed Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, as the richest person in Texas.

Walton still remains the richest woman in America with a net worth of $62.3 billion.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz was the first to welcome Musk to the lone star state, even naming him an honorary Texan.

It is not been revealed exactly where in Texas he is now calling home, but he will be closer to his SpaceX operations in Southern Texas near Cameron County, where he is currently working on the new SN8 rocket.
