Netflix’s Teen Drama ‘Blood & Water’ Gets A Quick Renewal For Season 2

Buckle up for more mysteries!
Contributor

The drama returns! Netflix's Blood & Water was officially renewed for a second season less than a month after it premiered on the streaming platform. The South African series can be likened to a mix of Elite and Gossip Girl with all of the dark and dramatic mysteries included.

A recent video posted by the NetflixSA Twitter account showcased director Nosipho Dumisa sharing the news with the cast members in person and via FaceTime.

"So today, I have very special news to tell the cast of the show. So special that I had to bring you guys along with me to do it," Dumisa tells the camera at the beginning of the video.

The show's star Ama Qamata, who plays Puleng Khumalo, was the first person that the director shared the happy news with.

"So, I actually got a call the other day from some certain people from Netflix and they were like, 'by the way, we love the show so much we can't get enough. We're definitely renewing season two and you guys need to get going,'" Dumisa tells Qamata.

Dumisa tells viewers that, "We really hope you're ready because things can only get crazier from here."

The video ends with each cast member thanking viewers for watching and supporting the show and helping them get renewed for season two.

According to the Netflix Media Center, "In the second season, we will see Puleng and Fikile deal with the consequences of their explosive confrontation as more mystery and drama unfolds."

The series follows a teen who gets herself transferred to a prestigious school in Cape Town made up of elite scholars and academic overachievers, per Netflix. While there, she investigates whether a fellow student is her abducted-at-birth older sister who was taken 17 years before.

The six episodes in season one premiered on Netflix on May 20.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has an 83% audience score and doesn't yet have a critics score. Meanwhile, 97% of Google users say they've liked the show.

While you eagerly await season two, you can stream all of season one of Blood & Water on Netflix now.
