Strap in for an unsettling adventure! Netflix's brand new true-crime docuseries drops this month and you'll want to tune in to learn some shocking secrets. The trailer for Fear City: New York vs The Mafia just premiered and it looks to take viewers on a chilling ride.

According to Netflix, the three-part series takes a gritty and investigative look at the Mob who owned The Big Apple in the 70s.

"From the producers of Don't F**k With Cats, comes the inside story of the rise and fall of New York’s most powerful Mafia families and the end of the golden era of the Mob," Netflix writes.

"With the full might of the FBI and an army of undercover agents, witness the bugging, the investigation, and the era-defining conclusion of the historic Mafia Commission Trial that changed everything."

The trailer notes that the series features "unheard secret FBI tapes" and "the story of greed" that took place in "Fear City", once called "Fun City".

While the FBI tries desperately to take down five families involved in "the biggest organized crime case ever", other individuals recall their time in the Mob.

"We were untouchable. I didn't feel New York was mine for taking, I thought we already took it," one man says in the video.

"You control the unions, bankers, the country," another man adds.

Another admits, "My boss, he had 20-something guys killed."

Rolling Stone claims that director Sam Hobkinson said Francis Ford Coppola's 1974 movie The Conversation was used as inspiration for the upcoming docuseries.

"Most mob stories are told from the point of view of the mobsters but we decided the main thread of the narrative would be the FBI investigation. Then, generically, it becomes a techno-spy thriller with all the bugging and surveillance," Hobkinson told Rolling Stone.

"Our incredible team of researchers managed to unearth amazing surveillance tapes that haven’t been heard before and hundreds of photographs that haven’t been seen."

Fear City: New York vs The Mafia premieres on Netflix on July 22. Watch the trailer below.
