Federal agencies are looking to hire nurse practitioners, registered nurses and practical nurses to work these high-paying jobs.
The jobs are located in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Nurse Practitioner
Salary: $97,100 to $113,163
Location: Dorchester and Renous, New Brunswick and Springhill and Truro, Nova Scotia
Company: Correctional Service Canada
Who Should Apply: You need a master's degree in nursing from a recognized university with specialization as a nurse practitioner.
Also, you must have a Registered Nurse Practitioner license in good standing from the provincial regulatory body in the province where the position is being staffed.
It's required that you have experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and at least five years of experience as a registered nurse.
You need knowledge of the principles of primary health care and the nursing standards of practice.
Knowledge of assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing a broad range of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions as a nurse practitioner is also required.
You must be willing to work outside normal hours with little or no notice, be able to travel within and outside the Atlantic region, and be able to carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 20 kilograms when delivering health services.

Registered Nurse, Public Health
Salary: $94,016 to $106,864
Location: remote and/or isolated First Nations communities in Manitoba and Alberta
Company: Indigenous Services Canada
Who Should Apply: You must be eligible for registration as a registered nurse in a Canadian province or territory.
Also, you need experience as a registered nurse in one or more of the following public health areas:
- health promotion and disease prevention
- communicable disease control
- population health assessment
- emergency preparedness, surveillance and response
It's required that you have a valid driver's license or personal mobility that's equivalent to the possession of a driver's license.
You must be:
- willing and able to travel in small aircraft, off-road vehicles and by boat in various weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
- willing and able to perform on-call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required
- willing and able to complete mandatory education or training relevant to the position
Also, you continue to have a valid registration as a registered nurse and be a member in good standing in the province where the position is located.

Who Should Apply: You must have registration as a registered nurse or a registered psychiatric nurse in the Canadian province where the position is located.
You also need experience working in a health care environment, which includes clinical fieldwork placements in areas like a medical, surgical, emergency or psychiatric setting.
It's required that you're willing to do shift work, overtime and variable hours, and able to travel occasionally.
You must continue to have:
- a registered nurse license or a registered psychiatric nurse license in good standing from the provincial regulatory body in the province where the job is located
- a valid CPR/AED level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or a valid CPR/AED for Health Care Providers (HCP) certification obtained in person

Nurse Practitioner
Salary: $97,100 to $113,163
Location: various locations in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and the Northwest Territories

Who Should Apply: You must have successfully completed a recognized nurse practitioner program with a specialty certificate in either Nurse Practitioner – Adult (NP-Adult) or Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care (NP-PHC).
Also, you need to be eligible for registration as a nurse practitioner — NP, RN(EC), RN(NP), or RN(EP) — in a Canadian province or territory with no current license suspensions or restrictions with any professional regulatory organizations.
It's required that you have:
- experience as a nurse practitioner in a community or clinical setting
- experience in ambulatory care, acute care or community health care
- experience in adult education and health promotion
- experience in accessing professional literature to provide current evidence-based care
Knowledge in assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions as a nurse practitioner is also required.
You must be able to work overtime occasionally, travel on short notice occasionally and work flexible hours.
Also, you must have continuous registration in good standing with the regulatory body responsible for regulating the profession of nursing in the province or territory where the position is located.

Licensed Practical Nurse
Salary: $36.81 to $40.02 per hour

Who Should Apply: You need a certification or diploma as a licensed practical nurse or a registered practical nurse.
You also must be eligible for registration as a licensed practical nurse or registered practical nurse in a Canadian province or territory.
Experience providing healthcare services as a registered or licensed practical nurse is required.
If you get hired, you must:
- maintain current and ongoing certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- be willing to travel in small aircraft, off-road vehicles and by boat in various weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
- be able to perform on-call duties, work after hours and on weekends as required
- be willing to complete mandatory education or training relevant to the position
- maintain current valid registration as a licensed practical nurse and a member in good standing in the province of Manitoba
